So I hit a bird

Has anyone ever hit a damn bird? This is crazy. Never thought, out of all the animals you can accidentally hit, that I would hit a damn bird. It was a pigeon, there were 4 of them on the side of the road and as I drove by they took off. 1, apparently not paying attention, went an opposite direction from the rest and flew straight at my truck and smacked off the grill. I had to stop and check cause I had hopes that he was ok (false hope I know). He was deffinately dead. Never seen a bird get hit by a car before, I think he commited suicide or something lol. Anyway, just thought I would share.

I have not, but one day we were driving beside a semi....a huge seagull flew right into the fan on top of the cab. Wow....feathers were everywhere.

I haven't personally hit one, but I've seen some on the interstate. I also know someone who was driving with her window halfway down and a bird rammed into it. Blood and gook everywhere.

Sorry, Brian. It sucks to hit anything. I did hit a squirrel once and cried my heart out....

Brian, I think I've gotten you beat on weird things hit by a vehicle haha. I've hit quite a few animals in my years in PA but luckily one was fatal. I have hit a bear cub, beaver, dove, bobcat, lynx and a coyote all of which were just lightly tapped. The only fatal one was the turkey that went flying over the roof of my car.

haha. ohhh good stuff. I've been with a couple people who hit a deer (I've never hit one yet), I've hit birds, but it definitely is a rare occurance, they usually seem to know which way to go...some aren't so bright I guess . VERY nearly have hit turkeys before, dumb damn things. they can do some damage to a vehicle too.

I've ran OVER a deer in my Jeep, once. It kicked and kicked like crazy while it was under there 'til I pulled forward. Then it got up and ran away.

I'll have to tell you sometime about the deer that ran through our front glass door, through my house, and into my basement.

whoopsie! Have you guys ever seen the photo (it was on National News) that went thru the guys windshield. Fatal for the turkey, almost for the man.

about the only thing i've ever hit has been the well renowned opossum

I've seen bird strikes on planes. Lexam ain't all that always.

but could you imagine driving down the road and all the sudden having a fluffy feathered friend sqawking at you thru the hole it was stuck in?

I have never hit anything but I have been hit by a deer. Saw it on the side of the road so I started to slow down and move over. The stupid deer started to run at the car and tried to jump over it. Well needless to say she failed and smacked right into the side of the car and left a slobber trail on the window and scratched the side of the car with her hoofs.

My mom hit a bird and had to pick, scrub and spray bird out of the grill of her car...really gross.

We had an owl hit the corner of the windshield and feathers flew everywhere but it flew away thank goodness. We were lucky it didn't go through the windshield.

I have seen bears before,one right outside my kitchen window,have seen deer and one hit our car one time,wesaw it and stopped,she ran right at the car and then tried to swerve,but bumped the car with her rear,birds around here seem to have a death wish,they will fly right in front of the cars,but I hit a rabbit one time and cried my heart out.(BTW my hubby says the bear was looking for breakfast,I ran for my camera but no batteries GGRRRRRRR
