I've noticed lately that Zoey has bee sleeping more often than he usually has, he's already had his brumation this year. could it be temperatures or humidity? Maybe heat makes him tired?

I've read that if the viv is too hot or to cold they can become lethargic...

I have just installed my new thermostat and now I have two...

One is on a spot light which is a dimmer stat, and the other is attached to the ceramic bulb which is set to 88 for night time meaning when I turn the spot light off the ceramic kicks in when the viv cools below 85 keeping it at a nice night time temp...

My babies have been loving it, however George has always been the out going one of the two and Bella being more scatty.

I found that George has mites, so the reptile shop I got them from treated him and checked her over i took her home after cleaning the viv out and I picked him up this afternoon 24 hours after he received treatment and when they handed him to me he was cold...

All day since being back he has lay flat on the branch under the basking light every so often reaching over for a passing cricket, and occasionally stretching up towards the spot light...

I'm keeping an eye on him but I believe they let him to get too cold, which is why he is lethargic, he has just eaten some basil leafs which I placed in after removing left over crickets which is also a good sign.

If he perks up it's the temperature just have a look and make sure nothing has changed such as the temp of your house that may make the temp in the viv change quicker...

Anyhow let me know how he gets on,

Regards Colin :)

Oh that's good to know thanks, I must admit with Bella I noticed this! which is why I was reluctant to bring them in when I showed the reptile shop the pictures of George to identify if he had mites.

Thanks again ;-)

Is he eating? or getting ready for a shed? How does he act when he is out of his tank? Dexter went through something a few months back that I could only describe as mild seasonal depression. She slept most of the day under her hide. I thought she was going into brummation but she still wanted to eat and when I took her out of her tank for baths she just wanted to play. Once the weather started to get better she seemed to perk up.

He is eating, he doesn't like crickets as much as he used to but when it comes to Superworms and other bugs he goes crazy. He spends the beginning of the morning scratching at the glass and banging against the glass, when I take him out he'll start exploring my bed. Our weather here is up and down, some days it's hot (plus Santa anas) other days it's chilly or cold, I also have 2 tropical reptiles in my room so I have to maintain the humidity more. He had his brumation in February so I don't think it's that. His hide is upside down right now because he was going into it and spending the whole day/night in it. He hasn't shed yet.

If he's eating and active out of his tank I wouldn't worry too much. If he's always been in the room with the other critters I don't think the humidity is an issue. Sounds like he's just being lazy, I know it's frustrating but I would just keep an eye on him.

Any updates yet? How's your dragon's behavior today? Normal?

Hey Josh, nothing has changed yet, he ate some veggies this morning and moved around a little but spent most of the day chilling on his log. I don't feel like he's completely normal yet. I'm looking into seeing if his levels are off (oxalates, calcium etc.)
He has been glass surfing a lot lately and once I take him out of his tank he'll chill on me for a little then start exploring.

Please consider rethinking walnut shells. Here is a link with some of the dangers:

Crushed\Ground Walnut Shell
First of all, I would like to warn you all, the link in this post is VERY GRAPHIC and can be disturbing to some people. The link will take you to a page that has pictures of a Bearded Dragon's autopsy, where the dragon had been housed on ground walnut shells.

Again this link is very graphic !!!
This dissection is of a juvenile dragon that died due to impaction.

Please reconsider keeping beardies on Crushed Walnut Shell.

My very favorite quote on this subject is from a care sheet on another forum & is as follows ...
Crushed walnut shell is dangerous and should only be used to clean up oil spills. This substrate is NOT digestible and if too much of it is eaten it will cause impaction. I have seen this occur first hand with reptiles ranging from lizards to tortoises. Stay away from this product please.
