So fury here is new and I am new to having a juvenile. He is very skittish about me but very alert and plump. He is not interested in Phoenix worms but he is interested in crickets and greens. Just offered some squash.... But doesn't seem to interested just yet. Open to any suggestions. Just want him to make him more comfortable and less afraid.

Thanks

Just give him some time while he adjusts to his new home and surroundings and his new owner :)

So just time...? Do I just leave him be for a while more or still pick him up occasionally...? I'm really at a loss my first dragon was old and did whatever. Now I've only picked him up twice in the past two days one was to clean his cage because he had gotten water everywhere! Lol and the other was today to see how he'd do and was ok for like two seconds and then tried to run off the couch.

If you have a scarf or tshirt you can wear then put in the tank with him for him to get used to your scent that will help, also be aware of strong smells or loud noises while around him...Males can be more active it just depends on the dragon really. My Izzy she has been really laid back since I got her she likes to just hang out on my chest...but she has her moments that she just wants to run around.. so when she wants out of her tank but won't sit still I have a room that is safe for her to run around in, I have it escape proof as well. I have a rock mound with a basking lamp she just runs around and when she gets cool she goes under the light then off again.. I usually find her behind the desk asleep in a corner when she's done.. :)

So yea it just takes time and hold him for just a few min at a time slowly increasing the time.. He may just need to run off some energy..

How long has it been since you had a dragon? Have any of us given you some links for foods?

She's going to need some time to adjust. Try not to hold her unless you need to. Put something with your scent in her tank, talk to her all the time so she gets to your voice. Then start to put your hands in her tank but don't touch her, let them linger then slowly start touching her without picking her up. Eventually she will get used to you. I found when I first got my boy, I would hold him for a few minutes in his tank every night before his lights went out. He was nice and tired and ready for bed so his guard was down. I was then able to increase the time I held him in his tank and then got him out of the tank.

It's been 4 years. I've been offering spaghetti squash, turnip greens, hornworms (just one or two), Phoenix worms, carrots, juvenile beardie food, and calcium dusted crickets. And yes I got your link on the food thank you!

I keep offering him different stuff and trying to change it up but.... He's mainly into turnip greens and crickets. He did eat 2 hornworms! But hasn't touched one since.

Update ... I've been talking to him and he lets me pet and even cuddled with me on the couch yesterday!

But today I gave him a bath... Wanted to make sure he was getting enough water... He was not happy after wards... He was hissing at me. But he calmed down ate some crickets and allows me to pet him. But it's progress. I'm going to get rid of the sand (the smell is weird and I can't take it anymore) this weekend and then getting him a nice soft blanket for his new hammock

Plan on having the blanket in my coat for a while before placing it in there so it helps with my scent.

Thank you guys for you help!

I always wrap them in the bath towel like a burrito after a bath and they usually calm down a bit. Mine can sometime be 50/50 on liking the bath.
