Hi, I ask a lot of questions here but you guys are very helpful and while google provides an abundance of information it nice to read and receive advice from real people who have a beardie and can offer suggestions and experiences first hand. I am new to this and probably slightly on the over worried panicky side. What was supposed to be my sons pet, the pet he supposedly researched, has become mine. Not that I am complaining because I absolutely adore the little dude, he is awesome, but I admit, I was not quite prepared and the book I have discusses shedding but not in a lot of detail. I am getting another book [emoji34] So thank you in advance for any response :) sorry for the long post.

I have been wondering why my beardie hasn't shed for quite some time. He is 9mths old and 19" long from nose to tip of tail. It seems like forever since he has shed, at least three months, he has not gotten any larger in that time either. I was reading that it could be an indicator of ill health because he is under a year and they should shed every 6-8 weeks until a year old. He seems healthy to me, he is eating, pooping, active, not sure what he weighs but he is not skinny nor fat, his eyes are bright, he very rarely blackens his beard or shows any signs of stress and is all together a very chill reptile. His behavior hasn't changed aside from hanging out on his cool side and sleeping a lot last month but that has stopped. His tank temps are normal aside from fluctuating recently due to warmer weather. How often do yours shed? Could it be a problem with the habitat?

As long as he's eating, pooping and active I wouldn't worry about it. Both of mine went through a shedding lull. Dexter was about that age and then didn't shed for about 5 months. When she started again it was every few months and literally only pieces. Now she's 2 1/2 and last week she shed an inch section of her lower tail and this week it's an inch portion at the base of her tail and one long toe. Luci is going through his right now. He was shedding like crazy for a month and then nothing. So I think when they get to a certain size they really slow down.

So as long as he is behaving normally I shouldn't be concerned? Phew, that's a relief, thank you all so much :)
