My Bearded dragon, has a bit of running poop, with a bit of a smell to it.
I am not sure if its from the veggies, or if i should take him into the vet to get his poop checked.
is it normal for them to have a bit of running poop from the veggies?

He is still very active, and still eats like a little pig.

Hi there,

It can be either from the veggies or it could be parasites.

You say its runny with a bit of a smell, so i assume its not "clear the room stinky" so .....

Lets start with the easiest part 1st :)

Can you tell me what youve been feeding him lately (list all the veggies from the past 2 weeks or so),
cos certain foods can cause runny poop and smelly poop as well.

With saying it has a bit of a smell. I would have it checked at the vet. It could be something you fed but there is a good chance it is worms.

No its not clear the room smelly, He has carpet in his tank, so i dont smell it till i take it out.the smell lasts about 5 sec then you dont smell it anymore.

He has eaten Some
Romaine Lettuce,
Honeydew Melon,
Blueberries.
Squash
Green Beans.
And then of course his crickets.

How does a lizard end up getting parasites?

just wanted to add, his poop is not fully runny,

Romaine Lettuce, is not good for them, a better staple green would be collards or mustard greens.

Honeydew Melon, high in water and should be given as a treat, this could cause loose stool

Blueberries- good treat
Squash- can cause the poop to stink a little and can act as a laxative but healthy
Green Beans- good as an occasional food.
And then of course his crickets

There is a food Chart that Pogie made that is really helpful when picking foods to feed.

How does a lizard end up getting parasites?- they can get parasites from their live feeders.

I recommend getting a fecal done. The sooner you catch them the easier they are to treat. When Piggy got worms her poop kind of smelled but the smell went away quickly and over the next few weeks the smell got worse till it gagged me as soon as it come out of her. By waiting she ended up getting pretty sick and had to go to the vet 3 times. Since then I choose to get it checked just to make sure. Hope this helps with you.

Can someone add the link to the food chart. I don't have it anymore.

Yeah sure heres the link. Concentrate on giving the "green" foods daily, the "black" foods occasionally (about 2-4 times a week).

Food Chart with Pics

I see Sandra has covered the food issues and i'll just add that the fecal is a good option at this point. Better safe than sorry ;D

Well I have been to 3 different places and they didn't have any collards or mustard greens, not unless I passed them.
Will have to check out a few more places tomorrow.
