Sorry if this has been asked before, I looked and couldn't find an existing thread. I had my Beardie perched contentedly on the front of my shirt, and he was being so good, I thought he'd sit there until I put him away. Unfortunately, he's still at the "run around and check out everything stage" and I looked down and he was gone. Any ideas to coax him out into the open? I have his water bowl on the floor with his light hanging near it, hoping he'll come out to bask. I mean, they can't hide in the dark forever, right? As I understand, if he doesn't get enough heat, and the right kind of light, he'll get sluggish, and eventually die. He'll have enough sense to come out before that happens, right? Also thinking of putting down some food to see if that tempts him out of hiding. Thanks for any advice.

Oh no :( How long has he been MIA? My guess would be look in dark corners, under furniture, behind things.. A basking lamp spot should help entice him out...
My Izzy gets to run around a bedroom that has been escape proof and safe and I have a rock set up under a basking lamp that when she gets cold she goes to the heat to warm up then off she goes again.. When she's tired I usually find her in 1 of 2 places in a dark corner and the other behind my desk up against the wall kinda sandwiched like.. I also put a dish of bugs and greens for her too.

Good luck and keep us posted

It's been about 24 hours. I did put out his water bowl an his light, and put down some pellets this morning. I put out 10. and 4 are left, so i know he's around and still kicking. Oh well, if I can't catch him, maybe he'll just have to live in the wild in my apartment. lol

Well at least he's still around and eating...but hope you find him as he really does need the temps only his enclosure can offer.. Here's a maybe crazy idea depending on your set up and room available.. Can you put his enclosure on the floor all set up but with a way for him to go in? and once you catch him in there close it up?

Look under everything, tv, shelves, couches, chairs. If he is little also look up on shelves and curtains, little ones like to climb. Look in corners, shoes, closets. He won't necessarily die if he gets cold and sluggish, he may just go in to brumation. You are doing a good thing with the food and the light, hopefully you catch him soon.

That's a good idea, I might try that, thanks. Problem is getting him to stick around long enough for me to catch him. He came out while I was gone to eat, and was gone when I came back. Might have to set him up a hide so he doesn't feel like he has to go hole up again. Then I can just pick the whole thing up and put him back where he belongs. (he had an artificial skull for a hide, but it broke) Need to pick up a new one.

do you come home when it's dark out? if so maybe leave your lights on so he doesn't think it's night time?

Oh my I feel for you! Use a flashlight and look for recognizable body parts not just the whole body – like a little foot or the end of the tail. I have tended to find mine with their head stuck in the corner and the tail sticking out. One of our members found his Berti in a box of – correct me if I'm wrong here Patsy – chocolate cereal! Keep us posted please

Hot cocoa, on a shelf in the pantry! Someone on FB lost their little one and found him a few feet away from his tank under her nightstand.
