Hi there! We recently got our beardie for a little over two weeks. We were advised that he was only a few weeks old. For the past two days he has been refusing to eat when we tried to hand feed him. (We have had success in the past)
Today I woke up and he is actually shedding! We hadn’t seen any signs of it until now. There’s a few pieces on his basking spot and his head and side of his head have very large flakes that haven’t come off. I am just looking for some advice - I’ve read that as a baby his shed could last 1-3 weeks. I know not to touch it but I just was wondering if there’s anything I can do to help him!!

Hello, some beardies can shed for longer, mines tail shed for almost 2 months when she was a juvenile, it eventually came off fine, the only time you should “help” with shedding is tail tips, toes, nose caps, and any other shed thats been on longer than 3 months, if u soak him in half an inch high water and use a babies toothbrush thatd help loosen the shed too, be very careful when helping with shed never pull only pry, if it doesn’t budge its not ready.

Put some rocks in the enclsoure for them to rub on they like rough surfaces it helps with shed and keeps nails filed etc Raising the humidity could be helpful when its ready to come off but they can stay in ashed for quite awhile . don't pick peel or anything to it they've been doing this for a Millennia in their species they don't need help or constant baths but I will bathe if its a weird shed and I have assisted with her nose sheds
