As you can see top left is the 24 inch hood with basking light, do i need 2/3 of the tank covered of uvb? Like longer hood even though i just bought this one? Or can i buy a Zilla heat and uvb basking fixture? I know it has a coil bulb but it wont be on the basking side, it would be to the right of the hood on top, i know coil bulbs are strong and i dont want to buy a mercury vapor bulb and another dome, i don’t want to buy a 14 inch fixture either. Or am I totally fine on my setup?

It's best to avoid the coil bulb and upgrade the UVB when you can. He should be fine with the 24" for a little while (1/2 of the tank is the absolute bare minimum), but you should probably consider getting a 36" in the near future.

I use 24" fixtures in my two Zen 120 gallon tanks - they work fine - the are placed where the dragons can sit directly under the UVB- as long as the dragon can get directly under the UVB its not going to matter the length - what you dont want is the dragon not being able to escape the rays w/ out having to hide from them -- he needs to be able to sit in his tank w/ out having to hide from that UVB--
