Hi hello all!
I've been searching the net for any information about a tube made by Repti-zoo called repti sol uvb 10.0 t8. It seems there is not much info about these tubes. I'm from South Africa and I find this particular tube in all the reptile shops.... Does anybody have any information about this tube. Any bad reviews or anything? I'm currently using this light for my 8 year old beardie and he seems to dislike it a lot. he keeps on glass surfing and hiding from it after about three hours being exposed to it. The previous owner never had him under any uvb at all, but funny enough was is very healthy and very active..... Until I put this brand of tube into his viv. I'm waiting for my arcadia d3+ 12% to arrive, but until then? I've read that the repti-zoo repti sol leaks a lot of uvc rays? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I am not 100 percent sure that if it leaks it is not good. they only need a certain amount of "rays''.

I can't find anything about it either. Sounds like it's a version of our Zoomed Repti sun bulbs. Make sure he has places to hide in his tank to get away from the light

a certain amount of what rays? I know they need UVB. Lots of it.... But uvc is in the shorter spectrum. That's dangerous to all living creatures including humans, plants, bacteria, ect. Don't want to be giving my beardie that. Ill rather take him out into the sun for a while everyday until the arcadia gets here..... That's if the repti-zoo repti sol does leak uvc..... Still not very sure. Only read a few threads that I could find on that.

Thanks Patsy. I also read that its like a cheaper or ripped of version of the reptisun.... Think he has a few nice hiding spots. He is in a biggish viv. About 170 gallons. with 3 caves if you could call it that. he never used to hide without the uvb. But he has been hiding since installing it. Will see if he does better with the arcadia... Thanks for the replies.....

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that reptile bulbs do not contain UVC. Only UVA and UVB. UVC is a good disinfectant and is used in hospitals. UVC in nature also has a short spectrum and gets absorbed by the earths gases before it gets to us. UVB is actually more of a concern because it is what causes sunburn and can damage your eyes. However, we need(and beardies) need UVB to make D3 to process calcium. For the reasons mentioned that's why we recommend multiple hides in a tank so they have places to get away from the "sun" and mount your light over head rather than on the side of the tank. Beardies have ridges over their eyes that protect them from the sun and UVB light. Mounting your lights on the side of the tank, bypasses that protection.

Was thinking the same thing...... All reptile lights "must" be good for them. The box says so... lol. But having read many studies about these uvb lights, they all come back to one thing. Lights made in China are made out of cheaper glass and leaks uvc. And the fact that there is almost no info on this repti zoo repti sol light, Im going to chuck it... Hahahaha. Arcadia will be here in a week, Till then Larry will have to "hide" from the bad rays if there is any from the repti zoo tube. Thanks for the info. And don't worry. The cage setup is nicely done. lots of hiding spots and temp gradients. uvb mounted on the top so not to harm him ect ect ect. Thanks for the feed back. appreciate it.
