Replacing a companion

We have a juvenile beardie about 9 inches long. He came with a smaller friend who he seemed to love-they were quite cute together. But unfortunately, the little one died. "Beard" seems lonely. Is there any way I can find him a companion? I keep hearing that dragons will hurt or kill each other if put together.

Yes they can hurt/kill each other, but you cannot put 2 males together as they will fight - maybe not when your watching them. You can see the signs. Some people say they should not be in pairs some say they should but it depends on the individual. If a beardie has been alone for a lnog time and you try to introduce another one sometiems they will get upset and teratorial as they were there 1st, or the new one could be more dominent and take over. If you feel you should get another one make sure its around the same sizer rather than age and if you have a male get a female - which are usually harder to get. Do you know how or why the other one died, was it because it was being bullied by the other one. again you may not have seen it happen. Plus if you have 2 dragons you need at least a 4 foot enclosure for them so that they have enough room to have their own space.
Problem is shops and on the net there is so much conflicting info whether it be about beardies dogs, kids or cooking!
So basically if you do get another one you dont know if the you you have will love or hate its new mate - only seeing them together and watching them for a long time will you know.!
Hope this helps
LL :)
Hmm. It sounds like I need to wait until I can figure out the gender for beard. I thought of getting him a beardie of the opposite gender.
