I've had to use this drug in the past on both a beardie (Galileo) and a wild caught Frilled Dragon. The beardie had a mild RI and it cleared it up in days and I administered via subcutaneous injection. The Frilled Dragon however I was never told what exactly this drug was treating him for and the vet at the time gave it to him. My question is this, is this a suitable drug for a reptile? I've googled and have not found much useful info. My beardie was fine and had no other issues but the Frilled Dragon was too ill (being wild caught) and passed away.

Haven't heard of it. Went through my list of "common reptile medications" and it is not on there. Got to be very careful with certain drugs and reptiles. I know you said you used it on your beardie and it worked, that is wonderful. But for future, if the vet gives you a medication that you have never heard of check it out here first before giving. There are many on here that deal with medications and the wrong one can be deadly. I know PSCaulkins and LK know a lot about meds and dosages.

This happened a couple years ago. I did research it but found nothing then as well. Living where I was when this happened I didn't have much of a choice as to what meds I could give and couldn't. The 2nd vet I went to I asked him if it was safe and he said yes and told me about other meds vets use that aren't good which according to what I read was correct so I took his word on it. As for the frilled dragon, that vet didn't know the difference between a frilled dragon and a rock and was supposedly a qualified herp vet but at the time I lived in the middle of nowhere PA and it was the only place that took care of reptiles and it was an hour away.

Luckily my dragons are all healthy and aside from a pinworm here and there I never had any issues.

I know about the middle of no where in PA. I have a very good friend who used to live out there and now lives in no where Ohio, lol!

Unfortunately "reptile specialists" usually have no clue what they are talking about. I think vets that truly do specialize are few and far between.

Glad all is well now.

Yeah, after going to that vet's office the first time for the WC frillie I vowed to never go again until one of my dragons (rehomed him a while back) got an RI. The local reptile zoo recommended me back there to a new vet that got a job there. He proved to know what he was doing and was a beardie specialist and owned/bred them himself.
