i think if they are outta their heads to wanna even attemp to ban pythons. i know there is alotta people who hate snakes or are scared of them, but guess what people! there are just as many of us out her in the world that both love and sometimes depend on reptiles to make a living. if they keep on about this idioitic ban they will have alot of POed pet owners all over them like scales on a snake. it they think pythons are hazardous to the public they need to take a good long look in the mirror sometime.

Should pythons be banned? NO. Do I believe in size restrictions? Absolutely. I've had ball pythons and even a Burmese. I honestly think there should be some system of regulation when it comes to anything bigger than a ball python. I know for me personally, a Burmese was just way too much. Take for instance, you get an 18 year old kid, goes to PETCO and sees a redtail boa. No prior experience, and no knowledge of the animals needs or any idea of just how big the animal is going to get. The petcare associates, from my experience don't have the slightest clue either. I was told to never feed crix, or any other feeder insect to a Beardie at a PETCO once. God knows what they know about snakes. So this kid is going to walk out of the store, snake in hand and not an effing clue. I think this is where our snake problems begin. My point is, maybe there should be some sort of licensing system for owning large snakes.

I agree fully and these bans are from pure ignorance from the owners that let them go and cant care for them that didnt know how big and how not to take care for them. Also from the politics that are a scared of snakes and dont know how tame and friendly they can be. Also im saying this much their are people out there that need to take the time to learn that dogs and horses kill more than these amazing creatures. All of it is from ignorance of the people that are not educated about the snakes and how much they are worth. Also i agree Southern that once you hit a burmese you should have a licenses for have that and big snakes do idiots that aint serious about them cant get them.

Restrictions, Yes. Total ban of these beautiful animals, No... Once again, a few bad apples have spoiled the whole bunch & something should be done. Unfortunately, the release of these animals into the wild is affecting an ecosystem that is not their natural environment.

Hey Guys.

I agree kids walking into a pet shop and buying a snake which gets to 9+ feet and not knowing it is ( Hell even adults are like this sometimes too ) is where our problem is. We SHOULD have a permit system with big snakes where you should have to take a class on them BEFORE you buy them! I mean that would be the smart thing to do, Instead of banning them. But it's people who don't do their RESEARCH before buying an animal that give us all a bad rep. We should not ALL have to suffer for the idiots who don't take care of their animals. But it happened, We are now ALL in the same boat! If people don't mature up and start doing the research needed to own these animals pretty soon all reptiles will be banned ( The Government will try too! ).

I agree with EVERYTHING you guys have said, Thanks for replying on this subject.

Agreed, and with everyone!

Plus it makes me think about what could be next. This reminds me of iguanas too! People buy them when they are small and then I hear about people letting them go because they got too big (I live in Florida, I hear it a lot). So will this inspire them to do the same with them? And then what would be next after that?

They should let any reptile in the wild go they need to make it illegal to let reptiles go where they dont belong at like the problems in Florida.
