Hey Everyone! I'm new here and a new beardie owner as well. I have a concern though. I came home today and saw what I thought was a piece of skin hanging from my beardie's nose, but when I looked closer it actually looks like her nostril cavity is protruding from her nose! Has anyone seen or heard of this? I tried to post a picture, but it said the file was too large?? (Im a noob at blogging as well) Any help??

Ok so I just turned off the lights and she went under her hide, which she has started doing the last few nights when the lights go off and the "protruding nostril" went back in! It was definitely her nostril cavity sticking out about 1/8"? Also I have noticed the last few days she has been gaping her mouth alot more than she used to?

Welcome aboard. You are looking at a piece of shedding skin. A pooper also sheds the skin in its nostrils. Its normal and he/she is really ok.

YEP! I just found the little "protruding nostril" under her hide, you were right! Just a piece of skin, she is shedding right now. I guess I am just a paranoid new owner! lol, Thanks Tom!

For starters, welcome to our forum.

It looks like Tom answered your questions. It is a freaky thing to see. But it eventually falls off. I remember some of Bernie's were there forever. At least it seemed that way. We chose not to interfere with the shedding process.

Since you are a new owner, here's a link to some basic bearded dragon care info:

Give it a read and let us know if you have any questions.
