The female crickets have the stick that comes out their backside. I really don't know what it's called, LOL! They sit on top of the substrate and they put that stick in it and you can see them pumping it up and down as they lay the eggs. It's very cool! I tried to breed crickets before and had a chance to catch the females doing this. I had a ton of eggs but couldn't keep them warm enough to hatch.
The eggs look like little tiny pieces of yellow/brown rice. If you beardie eats enough pregnant crickets you can see the eggs in the poop!
I don't think there is risk of impaction. They are tiny rice shaped but they aren't hard like rice. The only reason I know this was because Dexter pooped them out one time and I completely FREAKED! I thought she had a worm infestation that had gotten way out of control that I could actually see them. I did a Google search and somehow came up with cricket eggs and saw pictures and that was exactly what she had. It only happened once thank goodness!
Now a problem that just developed. I gave my crickets mustard greens an hour or so ago and they got extremely active but now most look disoriented and like their hind legs are paralyzed - some seem to recover from it. when they were active they were hitting the lid on the cricket keeper they were in. could they have given them selves concussions?
