FOLLOW-UP on Henry:

My 7 month old has JUST finished 7 days of oral meds for Gardiasis. He finally went potty after 5 days w/not a drop! He still refuses to touch his veggies. Has not had a single bite in over 12 days. He will ONLY eat worms; a far amount, considering. SHOULD I BE WORRIED? I do dust the worms with a cocktail of Reptivite and Bene-Bac everyother day. SHOULD I SLOW DOWN ON THIS?

Also, is it Ok to feed him the following: watercress, cranberries, turnips? I keep trying different stuff in hopes I'll find something he'll eat - no luck so far.
By-the-by, he didn't so much as even look at the "alternative" food I bought.....the Bites for beardies by Nature Zone. Complete waist of time & $$.

My vet is now suggesting I swap out the new 10.0 UVB I just bought for a metalic blue light (or something like that) cuz it's suppose to be a dual purpose thing for heat and UVB-A rays. It's suppose to put out 150 watts AND stimulate appetite better than the ReptiGlo tube I'm just switched to. WHAT DO U GUYS THING?...any advice?

If I have to buy one more bloody thing this month I'm going to pop.....I've shelled out over $300 USDs so far - nobody told me beardies were so expensive!!....Cute but costly - 4 sure!

GOOD NEWS: Henry does enjoying the 20 minute ENCLOSED soaks (steam bath style) that the vet suggested! Not drinking though :(

You deffinently need a better light then the ReptiGlo. The best ones in the US market are the ReptiSun 10.0. I saw a huge increase in appetite after I changed my 2 to them. They need a good UV to digest food properly.

As far as expensive, I feel you. When Piggy had her parasites it cost me about the same amount.

What about this blue light thing? Its a halogen I think. It might be a mercury vapor blub...not sure. But anyhoo, have u heard of it - a 2fer style (heat + UVBa)?

Are they costly? Anybody got a link?

I started out with a mercury vapor bulb but I suggest the reptisun 10.0 tube with a basking bulb separate. I have a 100watt bulb, a lot of people use house bulbs, in a deep dome fixture and then a 10.0 tube which stretches the length of the tank. You can buy a fixture from walmart for cheap that fits the UVB. Mercury vapors are more money than theyre worth in my opinion. It's up to you though, some can cost anywhere from $30-$70 depending on the brand. But thats just my advice hope it helps.
