Its not tail rot, but ,,... the very tip of his tail does look like its been nipped, and if it falls off and becomes infected tail rot then can develop, id order a product called “betadine” its an antiseptic/antifungal , people use it to treat tail rot/cuts, bruises, you should have this in your kit of things, dilute it in water with a 1to5 ratio.
Thank you! I noticed that when I got him. I’ve only had him about 2 months so I’ve been keeping an eye out I was just worried about the tip and the coloration of part of his tail. I appreciate it!
To test for tail rot lightly push one of your finger nails into their tail until the twitch or move away. If they do that means thy still have feeling and their tail isn’t dying. If you are pushing so hard into their tail that you are worried you’re about to push right through it and they still haven’t moved. Than that means their tail is dead and they likely have tail rot. If it helps here’s a picture of my girl who is sadly going through a small case of tail rot due to some extremely stubborn shed just so you can see what it looks like. Don’t worry about the white stuff on her tail that’s just the cream the vet gave me to put on her tail
