i know nobody is active right now but i wanted some opinions on this shelf idea that i have. itd be about 1ft from the substrate, the shelf itself would probably be 6in from front to back with a slope going from the shelf to the bottom of the tank so he can get up there. heres an EXTREMELY crude drawing of it

I think some kind of shelf and ramp would be a great idea. It allows more of the tank to be used in a safe way.

It's a great idea just keep in mind as they get older they are notoriously clumsy lol so a fall could injure them so don't go any higher. It also is good to get them a bit closer to their lights and adds some enrichment into their tank they do like to climb

i was thinking of putting his feeding up there, easier mess to clean up so its not all mixed in his substrate! although he does a pretty good job at cleaning it up himself the next morning

A shelf would be awesome right there. I recently made a platform for our beardie and made a macrame ladder out of rope that she climbs up. It was fairly easy to make with half hitch knots.

Nah its simplicity is beautiful, but your dragons face says....."where's my platform mommy" lol
haha, he loves climbing stuff that’s for sure, was thinking of maybe doing a bamboo ladder? just to give it a better look. he definitely loves his substrate though, loves digging in it. he’s incredibly smart too, ill sometimes throw worms in there and he wont notice then theyll dig and disappear immediately and within minutes he digs them up and eats them.

I used bamboo in my vivs, built a couple of bridges. It looks cool, only problem is the bamboo cracks and splits (quite loudly!) as the heat changes and it expands and contracts

dowels would work well, no splitting problems there. Thread onto plastic coated gardening wire, will last forever.

obviously extremely crude but something like this, might even make the platform out of a tray of dowels? best way i can explain it

By the way, if you find that thick dowel is too expensive, compare prices with wooden broom handles. You can buy those real cheap here (cheaper than dowel, i checked when I got the bamboo) ,same may be true for you. Broom handles are often made of harder wood too
