Hi y’all, so i’m in texas right now and there is a possible power outage that will hit soon with the winter storm we are having. I was wondering how I should try to keep my beardie warm without her lights. I have stocked up on food but never thought about the power going out. Any suggestions please.

We've had several power outages here since I acquired Dex. A few outages lasted 2-3 days and once it lasted 5 days. Recommend feeding beardie very little during any outages as they don't have opportunity to digest food well. Try to keep hydrated though with dropper/syringe if necessary. I would take my boy out and lay him on my chest under my sweater to help keep him warm for as long as he'd let me. If you have a gas or wood stove another idea is to put rice bags in a pan and warm them for a bit on each side (enough to warm not to burn or get hot) and lay beardie on it with a towel or blanket over to help trap the heat. We do have a generator and I was able to give him lights for a few hours each day and that helped.

Hope everything is good with beardie. Hope she's ok. News says Texas is in bad shape right now with tons of power outages and freezing pipes bursting. Damage to hundreds of homes, water pollution, and there's a fresh water shortage. Reminds me of the ice storm we had back in '98. Our thoughts are with you all.

If you can avoid feeding while power is out please do, they don't have a basking lamp to digest food.

If the power outage only lasts a few hours, just let them be and put a blanket inside the enclosure. I do this for Zeus and he just sleeps during the whole thing.

If the outage lasts days, I recommend getting him to a friend or family member who has power and you can keep him there until the power is back on. I had to do this when my power went out in a bad snow storm.
