Hey,

My beardie Norb has been recently going through brumation so lots of learning on my part since he's my first.

He will occasionally eat veggies or insects and sometimes come out of his hide to bask or just chill in his hammock.

He's pooping occasionally and I always make sure to keep an eye out and look it over.

He recently pooped and the urate part of the poop had a grainy/sandy look to it. He's not on sand but reptile carpet. I didn't know if it was normal or if anyone else has experienced it before. Rest of his poop looked fine.

And any tips of brumating dragons are always welcome! Just want to keep him happy and healthy until he's done.

thank you!

During formation their eating habits and habits in general change just as anything else hibernating. They do not go through their normal routine. That being said it will change the Pooh however it should not be diarrhea type at any time. If it turns to diarrhea sick that immediately. All this being said Assuming your dragon is being housed and lighted properly for the age

Reduce the Heat & UVB when he's brumating and he needs to poop so give him baths to hydrate and get him to poop.

Also, what are you feeding him? NO Mealworms only feed Crickets and Dubia Roaches and 2 dishes of fresh greens & veggies. Dandelions, Mustard & Collard greens, butternut sqaush, yellow sqaush, snap peas and endives are the BEST & only recommneded everyday greens. He needs lots of protein if under 6mnths only feed 4times a day and after 6mtnhs u can do 2-3times a day of proteins but alwasy the greesn/veggies place it on the cold side and take him to it so he learns to eat those now. Also u neeed a digital themometer & hygometer those are the only ones that are accurate. NO colored bulbs ever and at nite they like pure dark and quiet.
