Can y'all share with me some experiences \ advice regarding your dragons free range time - how long you keep them out, do they like it, can you put something in the floor for entertainment, etc.

Background: we just moved into a house where I have a designated reptile room connected to the kitchen, which are the two places I usually am. it's reptile safe and easily supervised. Our previous home was not reptile friendly, so Skittles had very little range time. confined to the coffee table, kitchen counters, etc. Plus he was so small I worried about him getting lost. Now he just turned 8 months and I've been letting him out but he doesn't really like it. He will frantically run, then freeze in place for several minutes, and repeat. And today he ran away from me when I went to pick him up!!! He is normally all over me.

He does like sitting in my lap in the reptile room x and when I throw dubia across the room for him to chase... maybe he's just freaked out being on the ground by himself???

It's possible that he was frightened on his own. If my dragons are out, I'm with them at all times. They usually perch on my shoulder for a while, then get curious and explore as long as my boyfriend isn't around. For some reason they don't seem to like him much.

I don't have a designated area for them to run around in presently, but the dragon and colubrid room in the house were moving into should work out well for them. I keep them out for 30 minutes to an hour depending on the room temp. If I do a deep cleaning day, I'll set up a basking spot in the room to keep them comfy.

That's what my boy does when he gets out. Runs around frantically and then he stops for a bit then runs around again, he's just burning off energy. I have 3 dragons so each gets about an hour of free time. Sometimes I let them out longer if one is sleeping or doesn't want to come out. I keep an eye on them though, if they seem like they are getting too cold, I put them back or if they go to a corner and snuggle to sleep they go back in.
