Hi everyone!
My beardie, Drogon, recently had about half an inch of the end of his tail fall off. I immediately suspected it to be tail rot since it wasn’t just typical shedding. He’s about 1 1/2 years old, he gets veggies every day and bugs about 1-2 times a week. A problem he has always had is that he isn’t a big eater. Some days I will offer him both vegetable and worms but he still won’t take it. I would say he normally had about 7-8 meals per week, which doesn’t seem adequate. I have begun the process of using Betadine with warm water and neosporin. I want to take him to the vet but I am honestly pretty broke at the moment and I’m not sure if I can get this professionally treated. I’ve attached photos of his tail. My big question is, with the way it looks right now, will I be okay continuing the betadine method or will I truly need professional help?
Thanks

The end does not look good - soak in betadine solution make it look like a weak tea -- then get some raw unpasteurized honey example Manuka but any raw unpasteurized honey will work -- dip the tail into -- the honey is going to kill the infection and the betadine will disinfect it ---- DO NOT feed any crickets in the tank - or leave any in there --- they will go straight to the end of the tail --- here is some info on the honey
Keep an eye on the tail keep soaking and using the honey -- if the tail gets worse hopefully it wont and the honey will take care of it but if it turns black and the black starts to creep up the tail then its vet time www.arav.org --
the end may shrivel and fall off -- if you haft to take pics of it to see if its getting worse do so --

Okay thanks for the help. Are you saying I should mix the honey with the betadine or do them separately?

If it does end up healing, what should I be looking for? Will it eventually close up?
