Hi, I've been searching the internet for all types of help and have found nothing.
I recently received a bearded dragon who was hit with a whipersniper across his face. I took him to vets and they said he wouldn't survive. It's been 3 months now, and he started eating [Hand fed only], opening his eye, and moving around.
It took a lot of care, but since then all his wounds are healed and just minor scaring. He is beautiful.
Because he was wild, I take him outside to run around my backyard throughout the day. He loves it.
The sad news was, that he lost one of his eyes due to being hit. It doesnt affect him to much, occasionally runs into some walls.
What concerns me is, he is always sleeping, or laying with his eye shut. The only time he opens it is when he is outside and its for little as possible time. There is no infection, or damage that I can tell. I built an enclosure for him and our two little babies, all the right lighting etc, but still never opens it.
[I have no idea how old he is, but he does look rather old]

As you can see it doesn't affect his climbing.

To this day, he still gets hand fed, and very closely watched. He's become my best friend, but I'm just worried about how little movement and opening his eye. If you have any suggestions, please help.

I'm unsure what a whipersniper is. Are you talking about a string trimmer? Sheesh! That's awful.

That eye is probably injured too and is painful to keep opened. Have you treated with any kind of eye cream? Look up "Vetericyn eye ointment" on the 'net. It's a soothing ointment that may make the eye feel better.

I had to look that up. But yes, that's the one.
I treated the eye for a solid 2 months. It cleared up all the remaining infection, but I can definitely keep treating it and try what you recommend to see if it helps him some more.

I always think he is sleeping, but he's awake, just lays there with his eye closed.

Thank you for your suggestion!
