Yesterday, I picked up some Benebac, as Athena had had 2 loose (but not watery) stools. After two doses of the Benebac (last one around 2pm today) she is having stools that are mostly water. I am very worried.

She ate today, all her greens as well as 3 roaches - but she's had two of these watery stools tonight, one I found when I got home from class so I have no idea when that happened (maybe the last few hours) and another she did while I was cleaning her enclosure.

Could the Benebac cause this kind of reaction??? She was not having stools like this before. I am, obviously, calling the vet tomorrow. In the meantime, what can I do to keep her hydrated? She's already had a bath (had to clean her off and also hoping she would get some hydration benefits from it)... I have heard you can do 1/2 pedialyte and 1/2 water baths. Does this work??

I just need to know what I can do for her until we can get her into the vet in the morning. I'm very scared about my little girl :'(

Sandy, thank you so much. I gave her Benebac based on a recommendation here ( http://mybeardie.com/bearded-dragon...o-much-fatprotein-give-a-dragon-softer-stool/ ). She was having some loose stools (just 2, loose but not watery like these last 2). Her fat pads look plump and not recessed. I have the Pedialyte and will do a dropper on her nose to try to get her to drink some. She is not 'acting' sick but I know that these animals rarely will, since it creates a vulnerability in the wild.

Lexi, has anything else changed in her diet? When does your vet return?

Sandy, Athena had a difficult infertile egg laying experience recently.

No, nothing has changed. Vet returns the 14th. She had a loose stool again today in the bath - but definitely more formed than the last two, which were basically just light brown water (sorry to be so descriptive). Even in the bathwater I could see there was some form to this one and a good sized, formed urate as well. She is eating like a pig, as usual. 10 dubias and her whole salad.

That's great that her stool is formed. No need for apologies. Poop is how we know something is amiss! lol...

Hopefully, it is all coupled with the ordeal she just underwent with the egg laying. She is eating, that is a good thing. I've heard that females pig out after egg laying.

Thanks so much, both of you. It's really wonderful to be able to talk with more experienced 'beardie mamas'! ;D

I had another thought as well, which is that she was rehomed (came to us from her previous owner) during this process. When I initially contacted her about adopting Athena, she mentioned nothing of the egg laying, and it wasn't until I was at her house to pick Athena up that I was informed. :-\ Not a good move, I think, on her part, to be putting her through relo stress while she is already having trouble laying infertile eggs!

Anyway, I'm hoping for a more fully formed stool to take in as soon as the vet returns. For now, we're triple hand washing in between touching her and any of our other reptiles, just to be safe - and definitely will be keeping up on the pedialyte and daily baths as she seems to enjoy the soak more now than she did when she first arrived. My poor baby girl.

Keep us posted. It sounds like she is in good hands now. She is definitely a trooper going through everything and still thriving!
