Playing during brumation

New to dragons here,
I was doing some reading of the posted pins. I think my guy is in Brumation? He hasn’t been eating as much and sleeps a lot! He sleeps HARD too. Freaked me out. He was up on his basking log and he was asleep, his tongue was sticking out a little. He looked dead! I went to pet him and he didn’t really move. I thought for sure he was a goner, but I woke him up. Took forever for him to be awake. This was all before I knew about Brumation. So now I’m feeling a little better about how he’s been acting lately.
I did read that he should have baths even through Brumation. But what about just out and playing in general? Should I just give him baths and let him do his reptile thing the rest of the time? Or is it ok to let him run around if he wants still?
TIA for any info. PS can I post a pic for someone to help me sex him/her?

i dont know very much information on this as i have never experienced brumation personally, but when theyre brumating they do become inactive and can sleep for days/months at a time. never wake them up for a bath, if hes up playing or w/e you can then give him a warm bath, but otherwise no. what you’re describing also leads me to believe possible shed again too, since hes being lethargic/not eating much. brumation in sub year old beardies isnt a super common thing but its also not unheard of by any means. if it is brumation (ill do more research on it here in a sec) youll want to get a vet check up and a fecal check up done ASAP to make sure they have a clean bill of health before going into it. brumation can last anywhere from a few days to a few months, also always make sure you provide fresh greens.

Thanks!
This is why I thought they should still have a bath during brumation. It’s in the info posts that are pinned.

t to do 1-2 times min a week, this can be done in the tub, sink or a container. The water should be warm not hot (temp that you would bathe a child) Water level should be up to their elbows closely monitor to make sure they don't fall asleep or get hurt. This is a good opportunity for them to also lick any water that they might want. This is important for dragon's that are Brumating (hibernation) don't eat much food if any at all. Bath time is also good to do while they are shedding to help in the process just don't peel any scales off so not to damage the new scales.
***Very Important to never leave your dragon's un attended while in the bath it is very easy for them to aspirate water accidentally..this leads to respiratory issues..
A well hydrated Dragon is less likely to become impacted.

Brumation: Every dragon is different and every owner is different.. You want to make sure you get a fecal before and after to make sure they are healthy enough to brumate.. You need to depending on the dragon monitor their weight during brumation a healthy dragon shouldn't loose much weight if any at all..when they look awake take them out weight them, bathe them offer foods..if they eat the must bask, if they eat they must poop before going back down again. I personally will bathe mine once a week while they sleep as it's my way of monitoring their weight and keep them hydrated..
Some leave them be unless they wake some..They say the more you wake them the longer they may sleep so really it can be between you and your dragon..The first brumation can be very nerve wracking and each one after that may or may not get easier..

I would do a vet check. Make sure they are parasite free and nothing else is going on. Every dragon is different when they brumate but I've never heard of them falling into a dead sleep for a period of time on their basking spot. That makes me think there is something else going on.

How old is your UVB light? How old is your basking spot? How old is your dragon? What are your temps and what size tank do you have?

Again each is different when they brumate and each owner does a different thing. I used to take them out each week and weigh and bathe them but now I just let them be and when they decided to come out on their own, then I bathe them and feed them and weigh them. All 3 of my dragons go in their hide for a few days to a few weeks then come out to bask and eat and then go back in their hide.

I’ll get you a pic of her current set up. She’s going on 8 or 9 mos now. I’m sure the UVB light is as old as she is? I haven’t changed since I’ve had her which has been a couple of months. Her heat bulb did die, so I put a red one in there(I know a no no, but it’s all I had) I have ordered her a new one and should have it tomorrow. So I’ll get that in there. She also has the ceramic heat bulb. She seems otherwise fine? And she only slept like that the one time. Oh and her tank is pretty big. I think it’s the biggest one you can buy at the pet store. She is pooping normal. I did change where I got her crickets from and she doesn’t seem to like them as well?

depending on how big her tank is and how small she is she might feel insecure in it and not want to explore much. also, they can change randomly i personally recommend feeding roaches or superworms.. crickets are super expensive and there’s a lot of cons.

I know she doesn't need a new enclosure. I just think it would be fun to build her one and make it look neat.

looks like you have the same outlooks on roaches as my mom! hahaha. crickets smell, make lots of noises, escape easily and are a pain in the butt to catch, and they’re expensive. superworms can last me up to a month before dying. you can buy them in bulk online, another option is phoenix worms. buying in bulk is always cheaper. you can look into breeding super worms too! itd be a cool experiment for your kids too. also, i can help you out with the measurements of the enclosure if you ever wanna build one. my main advice is go to home depot over lowes. lowes is always more by $20

i personally buy my superworms at the pet store cause i never have enough money to pay the 20-35 for 500-1000 of them hahaha. also that enclosure looks really nice! looks like they used something called excavators clay. ill try and find you a reliable place to find worms real quick.

dubiaroaches.com seems to be pretty good. you can get 500 supers at $0.05 a worm. 27.95 for 500 worms including shipping. they also sell soldier fly larvae which are really high in calcium but some dragons dont like them.
