I went to Michael's today and they had 50% of all their fake plants. I found a few pieces I liked then when I went to the register the cashier had a coupon that she scanned for me which was an additional 20% even the sale items. The plants I got were really nice, big and full. The most expensive one was $4.50 and comparable to ones at the pet stores selling for $15! I can't wait to do enclosure redecorating later :)
I appreciated when Patsy alerted us to when the lighting sale was happening so I just thought I'd pass this along.

I didn't think to post about the Michael's sale here! I was there last weekend and got some nice fall vines for Bumbles free range and they were 50% off. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't buy the fake tree when they were 60% off.

Well, these plants actually aren't working out too well for me lol! I got 3 major pieces for each enclosure. Ideally, I wanted to attach them to the top or the upper back part of the enclosures but tape is not enough, they're too heavy. How do people anchor vines and plants in the enclosures?

What I've done for now is prop them behind something but it's not what I really wanted to do and funny enough...Precious and my older skink aren't happy. I have Precious's plant behind her hammock and one of the leaves hung over onto it. She didn't like that...spent the longest time staring at the leaf on her hammock and now she won't go on it, lol! She loves her hammock! But I also got a little crafty and made a new basking area for her and added a long post that goes across her enclosure diagonally from the top to the bottom. I wanted to give her some added height for climbing. She seems to like the post, climbs right to the very top but I'm not too sure yet that she knows how to get herself back down lol! So, she's got a few new things going on in her enclosure and she's never been a fan of change at first...even if she winds up liking the change later. I think it was too much change at once and that the leaf on her hammock was just too much, lol.
With Tequilo, I have the plant anchored behind his hide, it's a spider plant that droops completely over the hide. He loved it at first, kept going all through it...it's like his own mini jungle. Then he tried to climb on top of it and fell (maybe about a 6 inch fall but skinks don't normally do height and climbing). I think he hit his nose when he fell because he had a sneezing fit. For a few minutes he had such a pitiful, hurt look on his face and after that, he didn't go near it the rest of the day!

I have a bunch of vines that I never used, I forgot why. I'm contemplating returning these plants if I can't figure out how to make them work. I never was good at interior decorating with these enclosures. I have so much stuff and could probably make the enclosures look really incredible but I don't know how to put it all together like some people do and make it work.

I don't have plants in my beardie tanks. When they were little I used to have vines that I wrapped around a stick or bendy vine. You could maybe use those 3m Command hooks to hook things in the tank. For my frogs I use suction cups with hooks on them but eventually they stop sticking.
