I was told I need to feed my beardie a pinky at least once a month. Is this correct? He eats pretty well he gets a small salad , about 15 crickets and 2 or 3 superworms every day. He would eat more super worms and crickets if I offered, and I was explaining this to someone who has "experience" and she told me I need to start giving him pinky mice. Thoughts?

How old is your beardie?

Pinkies are fattening so if you were to feed them it would have to be about once a month
And they are not necessary for your beardie a diet no it's more of a treat

I'm not sure how old he is
He is about 1 ft long from nose to tip of his tail. I got him for christmas and he was neglected with his last owner.

If I give him a frozen pinky do I do it the same as I would a ball python? Defrost w warm water and heat up a little bit with a hair dryer?

As already stated, pinky mice are more for fattening a beardie up when it's under weight. Your dragon looks to be perfectly healthy! So I would advise against feeding him pinkies at all, as pinky mice are almost all fat and have no nutritional value. In the end, feeding him pinkies may actually be bad for him!

We are having this same discussion on FB about Pinky's. Someone posted a video and it was so sad :(

Pinky's should only be used for female dragons that have just laid eggs and need the boost of fat. There are other things out there that can fatten up a skinny dragon such as wax worms.

I just rescued a dragon last night and they said they fed him mice. He has a very pudgy belly plus fat pockets in his beard nd under his front legs.

Yeah. The BM he had after his bath last night looked more like something my toy poodle would have. I can't wait for him to get healthy food in his system.
