Petstores- A disgrace.

So today I went to a petstore that I rarely go to and this is what I found. One dead and another almost dead beardie... Too small to be sold and so skinny with no greens and poop-filled water. It is very disappointing to see this and when I mentioned to one of the employees that they seemed ill he simply shrugged it off and said that hes not the "reptile guy". Ridiculous... An utter disgrace.

So sad :'(We all have our pet store rants. I did not think it was possible but in time you build a wall to keep from getting upset. The best you can do is talk to them and try not to get yourself too upset.

Poor little things...I usually do not read these posts as they make me so sad...and the images run in my head for days....I am very lucky the pet store near me is absolutely wonderful, they know there stuff about dragons and go against company policy to keep them healthy, sometime out of there own pocket...

Amanda one of the ladies who works there had a man come in with a Tupperware container of baby dragons trying to sell them, one did not have any back legs and the others where missing there tails, the girls actually took them in and refused to sell them but brought them back to health and gave them to good homes, Amanda took the one with no back legs and is now doing wonderful !!

Just a little good to keep us positive ;D

most pet stores see reptiles as nothing more than fish. They are a highly expendable animal. Look at it this way they purchase those dragons for around 7-15 dollars a pop. They turn around and list them for 49.99-79.99 if they sell 1 or 2 they make their money back so to them 3 passing out of a 5 dragon purchase is not considered a problem. It is sad but it is the way the commercial pet store demon is ran. That is why I see it as being so important to purchase from breeders that are specific to a certain breed (be it dogs cats, dragons, pythons, what have you).

I am just bothered. I'm sorry to vent but I was upset.

Don't be sorry, we have all vented about how bad pet stores are. Not too long ago I came home crying and vented on here b/c I saw one attack another and the pet store did nothing about it but say, I don't know anything about them I just do what the book says to do.

Poor babies. I hate going in there too now and seeing the condition in which these dragons are kept. Makes me sad. They are all so tiny. We got Pete at a pet store (before we knew any better) and I have to say that I am happy and I feel like we saved him from there. He is doing fantastic :) Sometimes I will go in and ask questions at the pet store just to see what kind of ridiculous incorrect answers they will give me this time. I, of course, never follow their advice.

Yeah theyre rediculous. They breed their own beardies and over breed ones in the back. They're being sold for $100. I got BeeGee for $50 and hes exotic. Also he is in great condition the breeder gave me a caresheet and a ton of valuable information. It makes me very upset.
