Well, after some odd symptoms and very much confusion on my part, I had a light bulb moment and I began to strongly suspect my baby had developed a respiratory infection. So I immediately scheduled an appointment with the only reptile vet within a reasonable driving distance. He had very mixed reviews on his website but I decided just to go for it because I wanted to start treating this problem ASAP. Well. I did not like the vet AT ALL. I felt like he was rough with my girl and I even didn't appreciate the way he picked her up. I asked him question after question and honestly he didn't have much to say at all. Didnt ask about my temps, tank set up, diet, calcium, nothing. I told him I suspected a respiratory infection and he pretty much took my word for it and gave me Baytril and sent me on my way. I lost all trust of him the moment he told me I should just use that artificial beardie chow instead of live bugs and fresh salads. He told me he used to breed beardies but Im just not buying it. Will definitely be driving an hour to the next closest vet to avoid this guy next time.
Anyhow, my girl HATES the flavor of this medicine. Ive tried tricking her into eating it by putting it on worms and food but the moment she tastes it, she spits it out and shakes her head around like a dog. So I'm pretty much at the point where I'm having to force it into her mouth. Anyone have any advice on this? Im having a really hard time doing it by myself and she hates my guts right now. Even though im feeding her super worms afterwards trying to make up for it.
Also I sent in a fecal test to doctor dragons as someone recommended to me earlier this week, still awaiting results. I asked my vet what to do if it came back positive for parasites or pinworms. He looked at me like i was stupid and told me to treat her with Panacur immediately. So i said okay but she's already taking this Baytril, would taking both medications be too much at once? He said no just do it. Well. Again, I don't trust the man. Ive heard how badly Panacur can affect them. What are yalls thoughts on using both of those medications simultaneously?
I also asked him about using probiotics to try to help her very very loose stool and help her gut while she's taking this medicine and he blew me off and said it was unnecessary. Which pretty much directly contradicts a lot of advice I've received about how beneficial they can be especially while taking medication.
