i went to a reptile shop recently, and they suggested infrared for my future beardies tank. all of their beardies that were for sale had infrared lights, and they seemed healthy, but im not a vet and can't really tell properly. are infrared lights ok for beardies? ive done some research and seen mixed answers, so i thought i'd ask. :)

Sometimes colored lights cause 'things' in the enclosure to look like food. It's best to not use them.

Any colored bulb is no good -- you want to mimic their environment - meaning a solid clear bright white light and a good UVB like a long tube fixture - NO coils -- colored bulbs damage dragons eyes - they have a 3rd eye on their heads for predators colored bulbs will damage that eye -- they also disrupt their sleep -- ask yourself this do dragons in the wild have colored sun or anything colored in their environment -- the reptile shop is hurting those dragons eyes by keeping them under colored bulbs -- they seem healthy until they dont - dragons will hide any kind of illness till they can no longer hide it -- by then it may be too late to get them to bounce back -- just saying

We rescue and rehome. NEVER ever use colored or spiraled bulbs. It’s inhumane and destroys their eyes. Clear Bulb for basking just like the sun. The beat is the zoomed clear Basking bulb. And for UVB; the long tubular bulb it’s the Reptisun 10.0 T5. Make sure it’s 10.0. At night in the winter use a ceramic heat emitter which emits heat only not light. A Beardie needs pure dark at night like himas consider also a Tiny pillow or comfy towel/blanket to sleep on. Here are the correct lights to buy. For basking there’s a 75 or 100 or 150 depending on the size of your tank & the weather; ply around with the diff watts daily u will need to adjust so that the tank doesn’t get super hot. Also, make sure the heat bulb is at least 8inches away from the Beardie and the uvb 12-14 inches away.
