I am going to need help friends. I need to quit smoking and that is the day i choose. So best wish for all those around me please LOL. I do believe this is not going to be fun.....

It's not my health I was concerned about lol I really want a new car and the amount I spend on smokes a month since they went so up in price is a car payment!

Pat....after Iraq it was safer for all of society if i continued to smoke.....LOL ....i tried to cold turkey it once....i was told by my dad and mom if i didnt start up agin they would hurt me bad lol........ i have the patchs this time

Good luck to all of you who are trying to quit smoking! I personally have never been a smoker so I do not know what the addiction feels like, but my Mom is a severe smoker and my brother used to be. Sorry If you already knew this but I have three suggestions. (This is what my brother did to quit smoking.) When he felt like having a cigarette he sucked on some lollipops and this may sound stupid but he got baby carrots and put them in his mouth and pretended they were a cigarette because it kept his hand busy which is why SOME people smoke. He also went online and looked at pictures of people's bodies after they have smoked for awhile. I know it sounds gross, but unfortunately it is the truth and maybe it will turn you off the next time you're craving that cigarette!

Wow....I understand. Your desire to quit and have a car payment is a good incentive!! Have you tried something called Chantix? Good luck and may the 'force' be with you!!

cant....certain meds the va put me on will have not so good side effects with that LOL...i already asked. I wanted that one....

Well....Maybe you won't be able to get your new car....buy a used one! I am 'assuming' that you 'might' go into a 'rage' because you are trying to quit smoking? That wouldn't be too good. I have never smoked....thank god! so it is hard to know what withdrawal symptoms are like. Hopefully the VA will help you through this process.

They gave my husband some other kind of pills at the cessation class on post. He can't take chantix either because of PTSD. Also try the electric ones at Valero I have some they seemed to work but my husband could handle it while he was playing his video games lol.

Oh Chantix is such a horrific drug....I know it has helped people but it really makes some people go crazy. My ex-boyfriend went on Chantix and started hearing things and he had a serious suicide attempt. My Mom went on Chantix and started having horrible nightmares. Sorry to anyone who Chantix has helped but I think Chantix should be the last resort for people who can't stop smoking even after trying everything else. Scary stuff.

I used to smoke and drink, I mean I had a love affair with Bacardi. I needed to quit, especially the drinking.
On the evening of August 26, 1986, I went to church and told them my problem. I had all this people surrounding me and praying at the same time.

Next day, Monday morning, when I lit my first cigarette, it made me sick. For the life of me, I could not lite another one. I also lost the taste for drinking. I have never smoked another cigarette since then.

Disclaimer: I still do drinking once in a blue moon, but don't get drunk. Last year I bought a bottle of wine for my birthday, on July 13th. I finished that bottle on Thanksgiving day. So you see how long one bottle of wine lasted me. In March of this year, I went with my daughter to a sports bar to see a boxing match and had one beer and one straight shot of Vodka. That was good enough for me.

Just to say, you never know what will work, but something will.
