Please post a pic of the eye -- three causes it could be loose substrate- shed or the worst one is a coil UVB--

If you have a compact coil uvb bulb it’s definitely causing the issue, they’re harsh to look at , and arnt suited for beardies, i had a coil uvb for a couple months, and i noticed my beardie closing one eye getting lethargic not wanting to eat, i quickly found this site and got told to get rid of it, i now have a healthy year and a half dragon with no issues.

Yes, i am :( unfortunately these bulbs are “””okay””” for other reptiles/amphibians, BUT NOT a bearded dragon who sits under their uvb 70% of the time you should get a “bar” “tube” light like this one, how tall is your enclosure? Distance is also crucial, and what kind of top does it have? Screen? Wide holed? Or small? Screen can filter out up to 30-40% of uvb

Coil bulbs are very hit or miss, they either offer WAY to much uvb in a Concentrated stream, or they offer little to no uvb, tube lights spread the uvb throughout the enclosure and offer a more natural light setting, these are what u want to stay away from.

Make shure the new light fixture has a reflector in it aswell and it doesn’t take up more than 60% of the enclosure, you want your beardie to escape the light if they so choose.

Replace the UVB w/ a 24" fixture like this https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-terrarium-hood.html this comes w/ a 5.0 bulb keep it use for a back up if you need it distance and placement are different from the bulb you need --- this would be for a 40+ gallon tank 22" https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-10.0-uvb-t5.html get this ordered ASAP--- you can also get this one as well Arcadias are very good
24" fixture this comes w/ the bulb https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/arcadia-prot5-uvb-kit.html

NO colored bulbs as well forgot to mention that --- at this point he looks like its going to shed --- they can cause swelling -- you can mist him or spray to help w/ the shed -- but please get the UVB changed out -- when you get the UVB please post back on here and I will help you get it set up in the tank --- distance and placement is key here

If you can give him 30mins of outside sun each day till your new uvb gets here, thatd help to start reversing some of the negative affects the coil was causing. Be watchful of birds (especially crows) and have a string tied around one of his legs or hips incase he bolts from you.

You can also use a plastic tote NO GLASS!! 15 minutes in that direct /shade sunlight -- but you MUST SUPERVISE him-- I know hes little it might be better to use that --- but NO longer than 15 minutes w / temps 65 or better -- if its real hot where you are make sure you watch him -- you do not want to burn him up --
