i thought that as well but i think his tale is just dual colored like that. because he doesnt seem to have any shed it just looks like that. but ill keep watching it may shed tomorrow or something. idk how there shedding goes
Bouncer36 is very right, the tail will be shedding in the near future, may be tomorrow, may be in a few days, may be in a week. The area that is about to shed, gets dull, greyish as the old skin dies & the new skin forms underneath. BDs often shed different parts of the body at different times, depends which body parts grow more\faster & grow out of the old skin.
Not exactly sure where the sensor, if it has one (don't see a wire leading to one, but had some kind of sensor in other threads), is for that thermometer, but the Basking Temp should be closer to the 110F range, measured directly at the basking spot, not on the wall off to the side. Likely why it is climbing the thermometer to get closer to the bulb for more heat.
It is also a good plan to keep handling to a minimum other than for maintenance, for a week to 10 days, to allow it to acclimate to it's new home as stress free as possible. Your BD will be much better off for it.
He's too cute!! I'm not sure about everyone else but my beardies tail take's a long time to shed. I've seen it the dull color more than I have the normal.
