Hello all,

Well my better half has met a regular truck driver at his work that apparently has 2 beardies that he want to get rid of, they where bought 3 years ago for there boys and now that they are older they are not getting any attention....he has basically said if no one takes them they will be disposed of  I know.... I could not believe it either !!

Money is not an issue...but 2 more...that would make 4 !!!

Oh and also they are sisters and have been housed together for 3 years....yikes !!!

I know this is a no brainer...but would love some opinions...thanks..

Obviously you have enough love to give to these so that isn't an issue. But do you have enough time, space and money to take on 2 more. Just something to think about. If you really aren't ready to take more on...maybe somebody around the forum lives near enough to you to help you out.

Mate, grab them as they need a bit of a helping hand :-[. If you find that they are too much for you, you could always move them on later to somebody else that would give them the love they need. The important thing is for them to land in the hands of a knowledgeable owner such as yourself for now before they get listed on Craigslist for just anybody.

I think you should take them and foster them until you can find them a good home.

If you have to ask then you already know the answer. There are variables not being thought of here. Such as, what if one of the dragons has some disease or illness that is transferable. Not to mention think of the time you put into your current 2 then double it. You can help find a home for them but I wouldnt take them in

Excellent points Bri, proper quarantine measures should be taken when getting a new addition rescue or otherwise.

Yea above all else don't let them be "disposed of" (shudders at the possible meaning there).

Thanks for all your opinions, I have already contacted my vet and will get them a clean bill of health before they enter my home....thanks Brian I would have never thought of the possibility of them passing something on to my 2, we have a family meeting tonight to discuss this...the pros and cons....my gut feeling is that I want to take them in until I find them a amazing new home, but we tend to get attached to things very easily in this house...and that is what concerns me.

We have the time and love for these 2, I will let you all know what the outcome is !!

I say if you do get too attached and nothing is hindering you and your beardies then why not keep them?

I think its great your going to help these 2 out. I get attached to things easy too but if you go into it with the mind set of they are not here to stay, you can keep some emotional distance from them and it leaves you open to take in more that may need a foster later on.

Laurie, go with your gut. Whenever I don't follow mine, I tend to regret it.

I have four.. and 9 leo geckos.. and a gecko egg in the incubator.. What's 2 more ?
Yes, they might have some more serious needs than the two you currently have... but, if these additions won't tax your own family resources to a keep or not keep, I'd personally go for it.
Hope this helps.

Thank you all !!

Well the meeting has come to a end....we are now adding the 2 into my home ;D

I have set up there vet visits tomorrow night and with a clean bill of health they should be here soon...my vet is just wonderful...he said that because we are rescuing again he will only charge me for 1 instead of 2...which helps out !!

Though we will grow very attached to them I will continue to look for the perfect home for them...and if I do not find one...then it was meant to be...

Be ready all for a whole bunch of questions from me...because I know they are coming ::)
