Please help, I really think something is wrong with my daughter's new baby dragon. We were just watching it and it kind of twitched, tried to walk, fell over, then I think had a seizure. It went all rigid, all four legs went straight back, it's tail was quivering, and it gaped it's mouth once. It semi-recovered, and is now hiding under one of the pieces of wood.

My daughter is traumatized. I am traumatized. Poor little Critter!

We just got it Sunday, it hasn't eaten for almost three days now and has been lethargic. It did poop yesterday.

I feel just awful.

I am sorry to hear this my best advise would be to find a reptile vet and have him checked out as they can really go downhill fast especially these little ones Low calcium levels, poor UVB can be causes..
Keeping your little one in my thoughts as I know it must have been hard to see, and I know just how much they wrap around our hearts. Keep us posted

this is sad. please consider getting another - they really are great pets! you might want to get an older beardie - sometimes you can get good deals on Craigslist. I've gotten all 3 of mine there.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. :(

I feel for you and your family; that is difficult to witness and deal with.

Like mentioned up above; I hope you would get another bearded family member; I've had my guy for just about a month now; and he's been such a character....I got my friend from http://www.dachiubeardeddragons.com/

They are awesome family run business.

They put up new dragons every sunday around 3:30pm EST....

Again; I am sorry for your loss

Thank you all. It was a very sad day. My daughter said she wants to try again, so hopefully the next one is healthy.

So sorry this happened. I do think you should get another one, bearded dragons are great pets to have. Maybe get one that is a bit older that is a bit more hardier than a baby. Also, make sure you sanitize the tank very well and any decorations. There could be a number of things that caused the seizure and it's possible things could be spread to the next dragon.

I agree going with an older one may be a better option as babies can be fragile. Yes do a good clean of the old items to be safe..I'm glad to hear that she wants to try again that's great as they really are great critters. I can't imagine not having Izzy now I just love her soo much. Keep us posted and fingers crossed for a new addition to be nice and healthy.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your little guy. Hugs to both of you, xxx. So glad you're deciding to try again. We got our Bayne from Petco and he was sick when we got him too. He had tail rot and we took him to our reptile vet. He had to have 3cm of his tail amputated. Thank god he recovered. He's become my little baby. I love him to pieces and he has the greatest personality. I wish you all the luck in the world finding a good healthy beardie.
Here's my baby Bayne when we first got him, with his tail rot:

:) I just love Bayne !! We've rooted for this little one and it goes to show that sometimes we loose some little ones even with our best efforts BUT a good majority of them recover and do great with a bit of TLC and some expertise aide.... Way to go Bayne!

@Bobbi does Bayne have a black circle at the tip of the tail stump? Dolly has one, sometimes I'm a worried beardie mom and think it looks bigger but I think it's darker with her moods.

Izzy has that darkened tip sometimes too I look at it off and on as she lost part of the tip of her tail as a baby.. I think it does that as she doesn't have a scale over the tip it's just hardened skin??

Lol yes, he gets dark at the tip of his tail all the time. This is funny because I was just inspecting his tail, haha. As long as the tail doesn't start getting narrow and they use it normally, it's most likely just darkened skin. One time I will look at the tip of Bayne's tail and it almost looks black and the next time I look, it looks normal. I think it's just one of his quirks now, lol.
