We moved on Sunday and everything got moved over with nothing broken...this was good. But once we got in we realized there were NO cable lines anywhere in the house. They had to run new lines from the pole at the street and wire the house. Once he ran the line, drilled the walls, did all that fun stuff he installed the wrong cable box. After over 2 hours we were finally up and running, I must have internet, since I take classes online. We also discovered the AC is broke, the AC people said there is no fixing it and the whole unit has to be replaced. That will be done tomorrow...Thank God. May in FL is HOT,humid and full of misquotes, so it has not been fun. To top it off the previous renters took out all the screens so we can not open the windows or we will get eaten alive. At least we have ceiling fans in every room. We also found that the lights on 3 of the fans are broke and had to be replaced so we had to go buy a few lamps. The bathroom door will not close. The worst part of it is...we are not done unpacking yet. Moving with a 1 year old is hard. He is making a mess and pulling stuff out faster then I can get it put away. On the up side everything is getting fixed tomorrow, anything that we do the the house to make it feel more like home that is good for the house comes out of our rent for that month. My landlady is building me a raised garden for my veggies and the best part is...she is spoiling my kids!!! she bought them a bunch of toys and 2 kid pools. One for the front yard for when I am working up front and one for the backyard for when I am in the back. She is a cosmetologist so no more paying for haircuts either. She also said she would highlight my hair for the cost of supplies, that is about $120 saved ever 6 weeks. I can finally afford to do my hair again since me and my husband got laid off over 2 years ago.

Once everything gets fixed and put away I am really going to love living here. She keep saying sorry stuff is broke but with a house built in the 1940's stuff breaks. Ok I am going on too much now...I am a writer at heart, guess that's why I get A's on all my papers in my English classes.

I hate moving! I'm going to live in the house I'm in 'til I die....and we've been there 20 years, now.

Sorry to hear of all your new renting issues, Sandra. Hopefully, the location more than makes up for the problems.

Yep. All that stuff makes you want to scream. Unneeded extra stress. But I am so glad that your Landlady is such a dear and so important to have a good relationship with her. Today is the day that most of that other stuff gets fixed and you can start enjoying your new life. I hope you are very happy there.

Sounds like you have a great landlady. At least she is willing to fix things.

Craiger, my husband says the same thing.

We really have no reason to move. We love the town we're in (I've lived there my whole life) and the house is perfect for me and Bev. It's a small 1,008 square foot ranch with three bedrooms, 1-1/2 baths, dining room and a full basement that I've been finishing. Added plus is that it sits on the edge of town....and it's the good side of town. The twins are starting college this fall...so they'll be moving out in the next few years. Once we have it to ourselves, we don't need any more house.

We bought it in February of 1992 when it was just 4 years old....and for only $51,500. You can't touch a decent house for that today. The value is twice that....and we'll have it paid off in 9 years (when Bev and I are just 49). REALLY looking forward to that.

So....it only makes sense for us to stay in it.

We sold the house we raised the kids in 10 years ago because it was to big and had 3 levels, was in the country and on flood plains. We were flooded a few years prior to selling. Phil was falling down the stairs all the time back then. We made a huge profit and had this house built. It's large but open. At some point, my husband will be in a wheelchair so it's perfect for that. The only downfall is it is quite a ways from the main cities. I have long commutes to town.

We're an hour from St. Louis and a million miles from nowhere. Small town feel with city access. We love it!

The AC unit is in and the house is feeling REALLY good now. Took less then an hour to go from 86 in the house to 76. (((Huge sigh))). Now the dryer keeps flipping the breaker, once again my landlady is on top of it and the electrician will be here tomorrow morning to fix that and the best part is she is having 2 new fans put up in the living room. It stinks that all this stuff is broke but the Potheads (not just saying this, my sister knows them and they really are potheads, small town everyone knows everyone)that lived here before us did not tell her about all these things wrong.

The location is great. It is still here on the island, we just upgraded from a 2 bedroom townhouse to a 3 bedroom house with fenced in yard. Not having to walk the dogs has already made this house worth it.

This house is so broken. Like I said I know it will get fixed fast but now....the toilet is backing up to the tub. Worst part is...this is only a one bath house so we can not even use another toilet until it is fixed, but we do have a shower in the laundry room so we can still shower.
