Hey everyone! This forum seems so friendly!

My soon to be 6 year old daughter has requested a beardie for her birthday, and since hubby and I are fans anyway, we agreed. It will be a youngin, and we plan to house it in a 29 gallon tank we already have, and then build or buy a nice front opening enclosure for an upgrade.

I manage a pet store and have experience with lots of baby beardies, and in the past have bred leopard geckos. We currently have two dogs, a dachshund and a doxie mix, and a few fish tanks including a reef tank.

Update on my little booger- he had surgery yesterday to remove some tail rot and two toes that were not okay. Gotta love pet store beardies. He went through the surgery and anesthesia well, even ate a cricket a few hours after waking up. He's going to finish out his antibiotics and pain meds and will be coming home in two weeks pending his vet recheck.

Here is a pic pre surgery when I was talking with the vet, he says "you're gonna cut off my WHAT?"

Oh my what a cutie! I am so glad you took him. Bless your heart saving this guy and giving him a loving home. Did you name him/her Little Booger?

He's still at the store, but one of my employees texted me and said he was eating great. His pain meds he hates and tries to spit out, its adorable. He really like the antibiotic that is cherry flavored haha. Seems to be getting around ok. I'll take a picture of him with his missing bits tomorrow when I go in. Daughter decided to name him Benoit, it means "blessed", plus its a name of a scientist on a wildlife show she likes.

I love the name. It fits perfect the little guy sure is blessed.

Here's his after surgery picture showing his removed parts. The pain meds make him loopy! He is eating well though. IMG_0249.jpgIMG_0253.JPG

Thanks! He only gets handled to eat and get his water and bath. I've been caring for him for months anyway, so the only break in routine is less cuddling and a new habitat.
