My dragon has not pooped in days. When I 1st notced this, a bath helped. Im on his 2nd bath since the last time he pooped and NOTHING! I gave Metamucial (per vet of course) and still nothing. We think it might be the light? this is the longest without any BM. He is not in a sand cage so it is not a sand impaction (Ive lost one due to that)
HELP!?

It could be a number of things. Can you tell us a couple of things?

1. How old is your dragon?
2. How long has it been since he pooped?
3. What do you feed him daily?
4. What is the make and model of your UV light?
5. What is your substrate/floor?
6. What is the temp on your hot and cold sides?
7. What do you use to measure your temps?

With the answers to these questions, we may be able to point some things out.

I was just about to ask all the same things as Renee. Most times these things can tell a lot about what could be going on.

1. How old is your dragon? 5
2. How long has it been since he pooped? 8 days, last was in the tub. he passed a hard white thing along with heathly BM
3. What do you feed him daily? Romaine
4. What is the make and model of your UV light? Just changed light after reading for an hr. It was a UVA basking light 75watt. Now its a 25w ReptiGlo 10.0 UVB (what i had b4 with no problems of constipation)
5. What is your substrate/floor? Flooring is cardboard (does not dig up, eat, or tear)
6. What is the temp on your hot and cold sides? I know this is bad but I do not know. I have a ceramic heat lamp on one side thats on constant and this day light.
7. What do you use to measure your temps? Again, I know this is bad, but nothing. Its pretty warm in there. I have had my dragons for 5 years... I hope hes ok. I soaked him daily and tryed feeling for a hard nodule in his abdomen, he is still using his back legs....

Sounds like you'll need to get those temps checked out. Proper temps aid in digestion, and which will pass BM.

Now you say you switched from a basking light to a uvb light. Are you using a basking light WITH the uvb light? Plus, that uvb is not the greatest. Actually, not good at all. You'll want to switch to a Repti-SUN 10.0 instead, and combine it with a basking bulb, which you can use just a regular household bulb. You'll need to play with wattages to get the right temp. And you'll want the basking temp to be around 100*F.

And I'd like to add, I'd suggest switching the romaine out completely for other greens like Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, Dandelion Greens, etc.

Hope this helps.

To add to this the take your temps you should use a digital prob or temp gun. A prob is fairly cheap, about 7-11$ at Petco. Some people have said they got one from Walmart. As Melissa pointed out the temps are so important when it comes to digestion.

No reptiglo all along, just got it lastnight and he already perked up. I had no problems with this light when i had it a long time ago. He will NOT eat any other greens! I gave him collard greens everyday for 3 days but had to stop bc he didnt eat them at all. Im going to try to syringe feed some pumpkin.

What about bugs? Are you feeding him any bugs?

They do tend to slow down their pooping as they age. As pointed out, temps and lighting are important factors in the digestion process. I'm curious what your temps are int he viv. An adult needs the hot side around 95F and the cool side 85F. Do you think those temps are met with the warmth of your area?

You've had your dragons for 5 years, which is great! I'll admit that I'm partial to the ReptiSun 10.0 tube bulb. It produces the most UV light that a dragon needs.
