Night time lights and heating questions

I've read various sites and some say do not keep heat lights on at night. Some say get red or dark purple heat lights to minimize brightness. Which is better for a baby beardy? I have been turning off all lights, but I do turn on the low wattage heat rock in his tank. So far, every morning he's stretched out in his clay (I use the excavator clay) between the heat rock and the side of his tank. When I turn on his tank lights in the morning (and turn off the rock) he'll jump up onto his branch under the heat lamp and is more active within 10 minutes or so. So far, the tank drops to about 65-70 degrees F at night, but within about 15 minutes after turning back on the lights temp starts climbing again so the basking side holds steady at about 100-102 degrees F for the remainder of the day. Cooler side climbs back up to about 75-80 degrees F. Is he staying warm enough at night? Should I get a colored heat bulb for night? Any other suggestions?

if you want to get a night heater, don’t get anything colored!! it can harm your beardies eyes. i recommend a CHE if you want to make sure his temp is warm enough during the night. it emits heat but no light to disturb your beardie

Thanks for the info. Great help! I'll go now and order a CHE. He doesn't seem too stressed at night and does stretch himself out to sleep, but I'd rather have it and him not use than not have and him need it. THANK YOU!
