welcome. they are resilient little creatures - but i would be somewhat hesitant to taking on a rescue as your first beardie. there are so many things which need to be addressed! please take a look at the links below my signature for some super great info put together by a couple of our members 0 good for newbies (such as yourself) and review. there's a lot to learn. please review this info and if you have any questions, pop em off and we can maybe help ya get set up. Trying to bring a sick one back to good health will be more challenging if you dont have the set up right (lights, temps, substrate) food options and overall knowledge.
Thank you. Ive been researching for about 2 weeks now. Have learnt a lot.
Hopefully it wont be a sick rescue. Just a rescue from somebody who no longer wants theirs and is looking to rehome.
Welcome to the forum! Bearded dragons are amazing pets. It's great that you want to take in an unwanted beardie my first dragon was a rescue with MBD and parasites, so I can't say that a sickly dragon is a horrible first, but it's not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination.
This is an amazing forum. There are tons of informative threads, and experienced keepers and breeders who are quick to help when you need them.
Welcome to the forum. You will love having a beardie! My Wally is my best friend. I find myself wanting to hold him after lights out and dying for the morning to come so I can hold him!
My only recommendation would be to read and read and read some more. Get your husbandry set up with the proper substrate, lights, decorations, etc - just be prepared.
They are absolutely wonderful pets and if you do get a sick one there are lots of products out there that do help and things you can do.
