My wife and I got a Beardie around Christmas. He has been doing great so far. He has been eating great.
Main diet is crickets and a few meal worms every other day or so. I dont give him too many worms due to their tuff exo skeleton.
He eats anywhere between 15-30 crickets per day. He eats his veggies pretty good too. They are offered to him daily.
I assume he is growing at a good speed. He has shed 2 times in the month we have had him.

So on to my question....

I came home from work today and found 2 saliva coated lettuce balls.
I can only imagine that he regurgetated it.
Why would this be?

The only thing I can think of is he may of eaten too much and threw it up.
Any advice of thoughts would be great.

Thanks,
Ian

Meal worms are not good at all. I would get not feed them anymore, you can try phoenix worms instead. As for the Lettuce balls, sometimes they just throw up to throw up, but it should not happen often. It could be that he had some stored in his pouch and decided he didn't want it anymore. Or it could be something more. Here are a few questions that may help narrow down the why but this may be one of those just because answers.

Are you feeding lettuce?
What veggies are you feeding daily?
What are your temps and how are you taking them?
what is your UV? brand and strength?
When was the last poop?

Hi there

I am assuming your beardie is still a baby / juvie.
If your temperatures are too low it will cause regurgitation. The thermometer you are using gives you temp readings but unless you are using a digital thermometer with probe or a temp gun the readings you are getting can be as much as 20 degrees F off.

UVB exposure will stimulate your beardies appetite, a good UVB is the reptisun 10.0 tube bulb. Is the UV you were talking about a flourescant tube? It is a different bulb from your heat bulb.

Here is a link to a great nutrition chart with pictures that will guide you as to what is the best foods for your baby

Thank you very much for you help. I have read many places that Romain is one of the staple foods to give to him but seeing this chart is is on the rarley feed chart.
What are some veggies that your Dragon likes the best?

I was gonna get some squash baby food but Spike doesnt really seem interested in anything that doesnt move.

My dragon likes mustard greens, rocket, mulberry leaves, butternut, green beans, snap peas, lucerne. Basically "green" foods.

Just confirm for me - how old is Spike?

Babies / juvies need more protein in their diet so dont worry too much about the salads if hes not interrested, so the baby food is not needed.

Focus on his live feeders like crickets, roaches, silk worms. Offer the salad daily, hell come around

Spike is about 1 1/2 month old.
His main diet now is crickets.

I read to let him eat as many as he can in a 15 min time period is this correct?

I dust them daily with calcium.

He eats anywhere from 15-30 crickets a day.

OK the crickets are good, just make sure they are no bigger than the space between his eyes.

He should be fed 2-3 times a day as much as he will eat in a 10-15 min timeframe

Calcium (Without D3) should be used 6 days a week (only 1 feeding per day) and on the 7th day dust with a good multivitamin

Im sure once his temps are up and his UVB is sorted out his appetitie will increase.

Pogie....can I ask why you recommended Calcium w/out D3. Typically they should always have D3 in their calcium UNLESS a beardie get natural sunlight every day on a regular basis. Just wondering.
