So, I'm in the process of convincing my parents to let me buy myself a bearded dragon. I've been researching a lot, and I've wanted a beardie for a while. I keep getting different results from different websites, so I wanted to ask here. What kind of tank should I plan on getting for a baby beardie? I know adults need 75 gallons, but would it be bad to put a baby in one this big? Or should I start with a 40 gallon or smaller? Thank you!! If you guys have any more tips on general care or how to convince my parents haha that'd be super helpful!

I used to keep babies in smaller tanks and then upgrade them as they grew, but with my most recent beardie Thanos, I started out big. My enclosure is 48x18x18 and he has had NO issues going directly into a big enclosure. As long as you have enough stuff for him to hide in and climb on it doesn't, to me, appear to be an issue to go big right away.

I usually tell people to start in a smaller enclosure because sometime in a larger enclosure makes it difficult for beardies to find their food and stress them out.
