I just got my first beardie today and assumed I had all of the correct preparations, minus being a bit sparse on decor due to covid making it a pain to go out. However I'm worried about glass surfing and general stress. My new baby seems to prefer my hand over her own tank, and whenever she's in there, she's often at her own reflection, scraping at it and running back and forth at the glass edge. I understand that she just got shipped and is going to need time to adjust and destress, however I was wondering if there was anything I could do right now that might minimize the upset from her own reflection? We plan on ordering a background, but me being me I'm paranoid that I could be doing something else in the meantime, lol.
Thank you!

If you are impatient like me lol then you can take construction paper and tape it up on the sides. Or just let her do it. She will grow out of it. Make sure she can’t see any food or anything that can freak her out. What size of tank do you have?

I've taped some computer paper to the sides in every corner except for the opening to try and block her out and help her destress a bit. I read that sometimes the sheer amount of info in the room can stress a baby out and make them feel as though they are vulnerable as well- correct me if I'm wrong though!
I have a 40 gallon!
She's still surfing often, and at this point I believe it to be a result of her shed. She's in a very awkward shedding state where her legs and tail are free, but the rest of her body is covered, and she's running and rubbing against everything when not basking. That, and her appetite is poor, and she hasn't eaten much since she arrived. I imagine she's stressed and uncomfortable. Hoping she's okay!
