I've recently joined the forum and have been loving it so far! I've decided to post an introduction thread, just saying a little about my Beardie. I've attached a photo as well for you all to see. :) ( at the bottom of the thread;) )

This is a really recent photo of Yoshi. He's about 4 or 5 years old, and hes been a really nice pet since when I got him! I've been looking for new ways to set up his enclosure, considering the fact that a few more elements are needed. I currently have a 75 gallon tank equipped with the 100W Powersun UVB lamp, and am looking into getting a heat lamp, seeing those are quite necessary for most enclosures for Beardies. Yoshi currently has sand, which I am actually contemplating getting rid of- due to his lack of "poops" he's been taking. Any suggestions? I do supply Yoshi with the Rep-Cal Herptivite Multivitams and Calcium on his daily staple greens, so I think his nutrition might be alright. He rarely gets crickets, other than when I can find time to stop by the pet store. I've read that older beardies tend to eat more of the salads and sort? Right? It might also be caused by the lack of heat he's getting? If any of you guys have any suggestions for a different substrate or any of your favorite heat lamps or heating pads, leave me a suggestion and it would be much appreciated! Oh! And I do also have some slate tiles that i could put in the tank-- I know some people actually use slate in some of their enclosures, so I could always opt for that as well.

they will still eat crickets just not as many.. while sand is OK for bd's over 10" and several do use it successfully for substrate i prefer slate tile . depending on your temps they could be a issue, would need to know your temps to give any suggestions. many of us use a standard halogen spot light for a heat lamp and reptisun 10.0 uvb bulbs are very common. is your powersun a mercury vapor bulb?

Hi, Welcome to the forums. You have a good looking dragon there.

Answer to some of your questions.
1. You can use the typical recommended tile, repti carpet, news paper or paper towel. You can use rabbit pellets but you will need to spot clean diligently and replace often.
2. Yes, they can live on a variety of vegetables, flowers and limited fruit. I still recommend offering them insects every feeding.
3. In a 75 gallon a power sun or solar glo is a great choice for uvb and heat. Just be sure your monitoring temps correctly.

I have a few questions for you.
1. What is the basking temp and cool side temps?
2. How are you measuring them?
3. How old is the uvb bulb?

Recommendation on the absent poo.
1. Taking him to the vet is best case. Having a xray done to be sure there is no blockage would be best.
2. Id soak him in warm water up to his elbows for 10-15 minutes daily, till you see feces. Once you have i would recommend giving him a soak 1-2 times weekly..
3. Natural sunlight can act as a laxitive to an animal that has been subjected to it in a while. So you may also taking him outside and let him have some peace but monitor him. *weather permitting
