I've been a lifelong Aquarius and have kept ball pythons but I'm interested in something different and with a little more personality, so here I am. I'm converting a 75 gal aquarium to use as a habitat. I'll be looking for a special friend when I'm sure everything is ready.

My major concern is humidity as I live in Louisiana and as you can imagine, it is high on a good day here. 70 to 80% is normal outside, and inside with air conditioning it is probably 50 to 60%. Everything else seems manageable.

I look forward to making new friends!

Welcome! Just make sure that you don't keep a water bowl in the tank to keep the humidity down. I use a sock filled with rice in my tanks to help keep the humidity down. You could also get a product called Damp Rid and keep it in the room that the reptiles are in or you could get a small dehumidifier.

Humidity of 40-60% is okay with 60 being on the edge of being too high.

Welcome! I agree with ^^ dehumidifier will likely be your best bet on bringing it down, I'm in WI and ours gets pretty high during the summer, fans, rice bags, damp rid and no water dish are all great ideas.

I have not had a problem with humidity and I live in Florida. The central a/c pulls most of it out of the air. Just make sure you have a decent amount of screening for the top for ventilation. Good luck!!
