Yep with the above.. And on getting them used to you..well sometimes that just takes patience.. Some warm up to being held quickly both of mine are good (my female is more laid back than my 5mth male) Some need time to adjust to their new home and new owners.. some you just have to take it really super slow like getting them used to your hand in their tank to your hand close to them to touching them to picking them up while in the tank then you just go slow from there..Holding them when they are winding down to sleep for the night is helpful..putting something of yours in the tank like a shirt (nothing with strong scents like cologne etc)

I have had my beardie Zeus for almost a week. I put food on the end of my arm when my hand is in the viv, and he just climbs onto my arm and I lower him on the floor to look around - I've done this every day since I bought him home and he seems to have settled in well. My beardie likes being held when he is sleepy which often happens fairly quickly when he's exploring, so when he settles down (usually in a corner of my room) I stroke his head and he closes his eyes (which I assume is because he is relaxed?) but then he lets me pick him up no problems and I just put him on my knee and wrap a blanket round him and he falls asleep again :) spoilt already! He is almost 1 years old the pet shop said. No signs of stress so far which I think is unusual considering he has been moved from a pet shop to a brand new location!

Maybe try dragon proofing the room and letting them explore - keep an eye on them and I talk to mine so he is used to my voice. If they are skittish then just rest your hand next to them and once they're unfazed by your hand try stroking their back lightly, and then the head. Eventually they should be ok with handling. I also put my hand in his viv throughout the day to get him use to my hand before handling later on :) I think because I let him explore before handling properly it makes him less nervous
