Hi all

New BD owner here....just picked up my new additions yesterday. Rescued/adopted from someone unable to look after and give them time anymore. Really excited to welcome these guys to the family.

But .....

Turns out they are mixed sex and the female is pregnant.... Not confirmed by myself yet, just what the previous guy told me....

Hi.

They've always been together yes.... I was a bit taken by the news when they told me... Though I can't feel any eggs yet (but hey, I'm new to this).

I was under the impression I was picking up 2 females so good news all round when I got them. I am in the process of building a viv so Aegon will be moving out as soon as its ready.

They are beautiful :) I would also get them out of the sand asap. Paper towels will do if your low on money or tile or repticarpet work as well :) Welcome to the forum and bless you for rescuing these beautiful dragons!

Thank you.

I've read that dragons can sucsessfully be raised on sand. They are much more accurate at eating that other reptiles and providing its not calci sand don't feel need to eat it. I take them out of the viv to feed live food anyway.... Its much more fun.

They have a tendency though, to lick for smell. Even if you feed in a separate cage they are at risk for impaction. To each their own, I'm just letting you know it's not recommended

Welcome to the forum. If your beardies are well hydrated, then using children's washed play sand shouldn't cause a problem with impaction. There are other concerns with using sand though like keeping it very clean so that bacteria doesn't grow. Another problem is the possibility of getting sand in their eyes, google eye infections, it's not pretty :(
