Hey everyone! I just registered today, and am totally new to forums :). I am also a brand new beardie owner as well. I got my dragon a little over two weeks ago and I am very excited. I got it from a big retail pet store, which I know is a SUPER HUGE NO NO, bc you never really know what you are getting, but I just had to have it! So therefore I don't know the sex or the bloodline/color morph (I know, I know, shame on me) I think its a girl judging by what I have read so far, so I will just refer to it as "her" until I find out for sure. I still have a lot to learn! She is about 9" so I know she is a juvenile. I am going to a reptile expo the first weekend of Sept. so I think I will take her with me to get her checked out and feed my brain, and I think I might get another one, this time from a reputable breeder :). If anyone has any advice for me before I go to the expo and look for a new addition that would be great! Oh yeah, I haven't named her yet so if anyone wants to suggest names I am open to them! Again, I am really excited about raising my beardie and also excited to be a member of this forum bc I know there are a lot of very experienced owners here!

Hi There,
Welcome aboard.
Now slowwwwwwwwwww down....lol
Start doing your research on taking care of your new pooper correctly before you run out and start your own ranch.
Go to the show take in the sites. I would leave the little one home for this one. Young dragons can stress easy. In time and with enough reading you will answer your own questions.
Good luck and remember the #1 rule of any forum "pics or it didnt happen"

Haha, that was a mouthful huh! I have done a fair amount of research, but am by no means an experienced owner, especially compared to alot of the members here. There is so much to learn! So you would advise against getting another dragon? I have all the necessary setups to house both separately.

Let me start by saying that you are ready with another set up is impressive. It comes down to your comfort level to be honest and only you can answer that. As a breeder I get nervous when I have people asking to buy 2 or 3. I love my poopers and i let that get in the way of the business end all the time, and that pretty much how I intend to keep it....lol

I definitely understand that. A new owner taking on too much in the beginning could compromise the health of one or both of the beardies. If anything, I am spending too much time with mine!! lol Thanks for your advise on my other post as well!

Lol welcome to the forum. I am glad you are more prepared than i was it seems. When i got my very first beardie many moons ago i didnt know anything the pet store didnt tell me. Unfortunately for that beardie. I i have come a long way since then. Im so happy you did research first then purchased. So few people do this. I have many come to me asking for a beardie, i have them read over the care sheet and ask them to send me pictures of their setups prior to purchase. Often after they find out just how much is involved they decide they dont want one lol.

Your official welcome!

that is impressive that you already have a separate setup for a second beardie. I know it can be overwhelming with taking care of these little ones. I would wait about 3 months before venturing out for your second. These next few weeks are critical. But it is totally up to you.

I agree with Tom, leave the little one at home for the expo. I think it would be too stressful.

Here's a link to some basic care info:

You've probably read most of this stuff already, but it doesn't hurt to give it a read. Let us know if you have any questions.
