New enclosure

So I decided on this enclosure below for skeeter and it says that it’s fitted for the 24” t8 could someone please tell me exactly which bulb to get please? Should I be getting the 5.0 or 10.0? I don’t want it to be too much uvb for him since it’s going to be enclosed with him in there. Thank you so much!

I'm using 10.0 currently in a similar set up as yours only its 42x21x18 .. the lights are also inside the enclosure.. now I'm thinking the 10.0 is too much.. also btw what heat bulb wattage will you use? I'm using 50 Watts.. but it's too hot has gone up to 125 .. yikes... So I'm looking into with temp controller to get bc I haven't found any smaller wattage heat bulbs:/

I've tried house bulbs they didn't work for me or Maybe I just bought the wrong ones :/... I'm gonna be exchanging my UVB lightbulbs then .. if you don't mind let me know what house bulbs end up working for you

Yeah as soon as I get it in and can test them out I’ll let you know! His new enclosure should be here in about a week. I’m super excited!

Awesome thank you ! Btw the box on my UVB light says no closer than six inches or it will cause harm .. mine are close to 10 inches away.. you think I should exhange them for the 5.0 lights anyway?

Idk :/

It might be okay. Hopefully someone else with a little more experience then what I have will see this and respond too. I did a little looking and just felt more comfortable with the 5.0 but I could have just been being paranoid

I would have gone with the 10.0 still and made sure there was lots of hiding spots. They tend to know when they need to sit under the lights and when they've had enough. Just make sure you mount it as far up in the tank so that it doesn't shine down in his eyes. The 5.0 might be just fine since it's inside the tank. The only way to really know is to get a solar meter to check the bulb.

I ended up getting the 5.0 already. I had done a lot of looking through the older posts on here and people who had it in their tanks on here had said they had the 5.0. But I guess I will keep an eye on him and see how he does with it. He has a log that he loves to sit on that can go right up under the light so I know he can get close enough. I know the 5.0 needs to be replaced within 6 mos so if I feel like it’s not enough I’ll order the 10.0 next for him. Hopefully it will be okay.
