Hey everyone! I'm new to the whole bearded dragon scene. I bought my juvenile beardy, Loki, from petco roughly a month and a half ago. Loki is awesome and i am glad i invested in a beardy. it has been going great until recently :( .

Loki, my juvenile beardy has barely been eating lately. Within the past week he maybe has eaten a total of 6 crickets and 4 mealworms. He has not been eating any veggies yet, which i have been trying to get him to do. The temperature on the basking side of his tank is a steady 106F and the cool side is 80F. He has been pooping just fine so I don't think it is because he is impacted. He just finished shedding maybe a week ago. He was eating perfectly fine up until he started/finished shedding.
Any idea of what could be wrong or how i should continue moving forward?? thank you

how old is he? "juvenile" can be a range. I'm thinkin brumation - but - his age might help. shedding affects different beardies in different ways. my girl gets moody. even if it's just her feet.

I don't know how old exactly, I bought loki from petsmart when he was smaller than the palm of my hand and now is he 2 inches bigger. I did notice he didn't eat during shedding. My one friend who owned a beardy suggested brumation, but he is super active.

Welcome to the forum, sorry your having some issues with Loki..If you could include a picture of Loki and his enviorment that would be helpful...
I would first stop feeding the mealworms as those have alot of chitlin in their shells that do make digestion difficult..Maybe add a different bug maybe he is bored with the food items.. Dubia, superworms (look like big mealworms but have a softer shell) crickets, phoenix worms, silkworms, hornworms, butterworms, waxworms...some are treat items not staple..
What type of lighting are you using and are they new?
The greens depending on the age isn't much of a concern as they eat more protein as young dragons and more greens when they are older as too much protein as an adult can lead to fatty liver and a few other issues.
Have you had a fecal test done for parasites?? If he's got parasites in his gut that will for sure affect him making him sick.

Take a look at the links below several of our comments as we have put together info for new comers on general care..

GOOD NEW! those Dubai roaches worked like a charm. I bough 50 of them and he basically destroyed them as i was trying to put them into a container. He has been eating extremely well the past week and in large quantities. I am so relieved he is eating now. Thank you for all of the help

Great to hear this!! Dubia's are great meaty feeders!! super easy to gut load too and those nutrients stay in them longer than other bugs so you know they are getting full benefit. Dubia are easy to breed to get your own colony going will be cost effective. Haven't bought dubia in over a year now .
