Hi. We recently picked up a bearded dragon and I thought I'd share how it all went down. My 7 year old got on a kick about wanting a Beardie. He claims that I (his dad) got him interested in it but I don't recall how. Anyway this past year he kept asking for one. Now my wife and I are animal lovers having had 5 cats at once in the past but three while reptile thing was a little out of our norm. I was hesitant about getting or even touching a reptile at this point but I agreed to take my kids to the local reptile store to see and ask questions about them. We were able to hold and pet some of them but my wife and I were still hesitant. I started reading about them to make sure I knew how to care for one properly. I asked a coworker who had one and he had all good things to say about them. My wife and I finally agreed to get one and the local pet shop set us up with most of what we needed to get started. My son picked out a baby leatherback which he named Spyro. He was I think a month or two old when we got him and it's been over two months owning him and he's doing great. We're not sure yet if it's male or female and I've read up on how to tell but I'm still not 100% sure. Either way we love it and I'm really into it. So much so that I'm looking at geckos now too. Just don't tell my wife [emoji1]. Anyway I thought I'd share a few pics of Spyro. I'm glad we decided to venture into the reptile world. Truly amazing animals.
